Noctua NH-D14 Overview
Once you take the NH-D14 out of the box you realize how bit it is, the actual dimensions with the fans are 160mm (h) x 140mm (w) x 158mm (d). The heatsink itself is designed as 2 asymmetrical tower coolers, with 6 heatpipes running through each tower.
The cooling power comes from 2 fans. A front mounted Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan and a larger 140mm Noctua NF-P14 fan. Both of these fans feature Vortex-Control Notches, SCD technology and SSO-Bearings in order to achieve a perfect balance of performance and quietness.
Each fan is attached to the heatsink with spring clips and they sit on top of silicon blocks. This will keep noise to a minimum. Each of the fans can be removed if you would like to change the orientation of the airflow.
Looking at the base of the cooler you can see how the 6 heatpipes come in to the base and then go back up in to the opposite heatsink. Noctua calls this their dual-radiator design and is made to work great with both fans running.
Just like the NH-C14 the base of the NH-D14 is made of copper and has a nickel plated covering. It is 40x38mm in size and around 3mm thick. It does have a mirror-like finish as you can see below.
