At the GeForce E-Sports festival in mainland China NVIDIA went ahead and publicly announced the flagship GeForce GTX 780 graphics card. The GeForce GTX 780 is set to launch next week on May 23rd 2013. The announcement was made by Scott Herkelman, NVIDIA’s GeForce general manager. Both VR-Zone and 4Gamer were at the event and got shots of the announcement.

NVIDIA Announces the GeForce GTX 780
Its not uncommon for NVIDIA to announce a card before its official release. They did that with the GeForce GTX 680, announcing it at GDC 2012 and with the dual chip GeForce GTX 690 at the NGF festival in 2012 as well. While NVIDIA just announced the card the official availability date is May 23rd. The GTX 780 will be followed by the GTX 770 a week later on May 30th.

The GeForce GTX 780 would be based on a cut down version of the GK110 core codenamed “GK110-300-A2″. Unlike the GeForce GTX Titan that has 14 streaming multiprocessors and 2688 cores the GTX 780 will have 12 streaming multiprocessors and 2304 cores. The included 3 GB of GDDR5 memory will operate along a 320/384 bit memory bus. The card is expected to use the same cooler as the one on the GeForce GTX Titan.
