NZXT Avatar Gaming Mouse Review

Overview
The recently released NZXT Avatar is the first attempt NZXT has tried for a mouse. This ambidextrous optical mouse has 2600 DPI and seven buttons. The short profile design and slick Teflon feet give the Avatar a slick glide across most any surface. A back fin design and rubber side grips give it a comfortable and secure feeling.

Of the seven buttons, two reside on the sides. A slim silver button, about an inch long, follows the curvature of the mouse and resides at the top of the rubber grip on either side. The left side button is default used for the `Back’ button while the right side is used for the `Forward’ button; this is not to be confused with the opposite listing on the product package.

Like a lot of other mice we’ve seen the NZXT Avatar uses both the left and right buttons on a single piece of material. The buttons do however seem to have a lot more space between the buttons and the base of the mouse; I don’t really think this will affect performance any, but rather just taking a different look on the basic mouse designs. In between the two buttons resides the scroll wheel and up/down DPI changers which look and feel like an Altoid. A slight sliver extending from cutout for these buttons extends about _ of an inch down the mouse.

Along the left side of the mouse is the DPI LED indicator with for options for DPI settings, off one light, two lights or three lights, all of which follow the lower to higher DPI settings. Along the bottom of the mouse is the IR sensor and three Teflon feet, which I might add are pretty damn smooth; probably the best mouse feet I’ve ever seen.

The slight raise in the mouse buttons that I mentioned before actually illuminates whenever it’s plugged in. Reminds me of the Razer Diamondback when it comes to illumination.
