NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Case Review

A Look Inside
Removing the two thumbscrews on the side panel grants us access inside the case. You can see that NZXT has continued their matte black design inside of the case. Also we can see that the hard drive or storage section of the case is completely blocked off. Taking a closer look at the motherboard tray there are seven cable routing holes, which the three larger ones have rubber inserts installed. We can also see a very large CPU cut out that will allow you to install an aftermarket CPU cooler without having to remove your motherboard from the case.

A new addition to this case is the steel power supply cover. Power supply covers have become very popular in the modding and enthusiast scene and it is great to see a case company actually have one on their case. The power supply cover has the NZXT logo on it, which will actually light up when your system is turned on. There are two 2.5-inch hard drive trays on top of the power supply cover. These are great as you can actually display the drives you are using. Three cable routing holes can also be spotted on the power supply cover. The expansion slot covers are removed with thumbscrews and also offer ventilation themselves.

Taking the opposite side panel of the case off we can see more sound dampening material installed her. NZXT has installed this material on this panel, the top panel and the front panel of the case.

After taking the back side panel of the case off we can get a good look at how everything is set up. The first noticeable thing is the centrally-located fan hub. This fan hub supports up to 10 fans with 3-pin connectors.

Taking a look at the rest of the storage system we can see that the H440 has room for five more hard drives. There are five steel hard drive trays that can be removed with two thumbscrews and support 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives. All of these trays can be removed to make room watercooling components like a 360 mm radiator.

Looking at the space behind the motherboard tray there looks to be more than enough room to route all of your cables. Included cables with the case are a USB 3.0 header connector, USB 2.0 header connector, HD audio connector and your front panel connectors. There is also a lot of room at the bottom of the case for hiding your cables.

NZXT does include a nice box of goodies with the H440. It includes a user’s guide, mounting hardware (which all the bags are labeled), zip ties and a NZXT case badge.
