We are more than familiar with NZXT’s previous AIO offerings, so when they reached out to have us take a look at their latest coolers, we were more than ready to take a peek. The Kraken X series pairs up NZXT’s familiar-looking, and larger, circular pump and waterblock unit with their Aer P fans and various sizes of radiators to offer PC builders a variety of models with good looks and performance potential. The Kraken X63 is NTZT’s take on the 280mm AIO variety and we are here to take a closer look at the cooler and put it to the test, so follow along!
Special thanks to NZXT for providing us with the Kraken X63 review sample!

Packaging
NZXT’s retail packaging for the Kraken X63 continues their current aesthetic of white and purple side panels with product imagery and naming on various sides. The front/top of the box shows us a nice image of the larger pump housing and dual 140mm Aer P fans that are attached to the AIO’s radiator. There is also a large product label and text indicating that this is a 280mm cooler with RGB lighting.
The back/bottom of the box provides a bit more product information regarding the increased performance thanks to the 7th-gen Asetek pump, the 10% larger LED light ring, and NZXT CAM compatibility.
Opening up the box we find a physical installation manual, as well as a shaped cardboard “tub” that keeps all of the components secure during shipping and handling.
With the tub out of the box, we can see that each component has been individually wrapped in a plastic bag for extra protection, and the radiator is even further protected by a cardboard sleeve. We really appreciate this extra radiator protection, as the fins on radiators are actually quite delicate and can be bent fairly easily.
Accessories
Included with the Kraken X63 is everything you need to install the cooler on a variety of Intel and AMD systems. Supported platforms go back quite a few years and designs, but it is always good to verify system compatibility before making any purchases. A variety of mounting brackets and their associated hardware are individually bagged and labeled for each platform, which is much better than a single bag with all of the mounting hardware just thrown in. There is also a break out cable with SATA power for powering the pump itself, as well as a 3-pin header for pump tach monitoring, and a RGB lighting expansion connection. A Micro-USB to USB header cable is present for controlling the pump’s lighting via an internal USB 2.0 header.
