OCZ RevoDrive 3 240GB PCI-E Solid State Drive Review

Testing – HDTune Pro
HDTune Pro is one of the most popular hard drive software suites available. It has many different benchmarks and tests built into it.  Keep in mind it is a single-threaded application though.  Our first test is the read benchmark, which tests the average read speed and access time of the drive.

As you can see the drive performed very well averaging 491MB/s, which is very impressive.   Up next we have the write benchmark.

The write test did better than the read test, this seems to be a recurring thing with the new SandForce controllers.

Now we have the Random Access test.  This test measures the performance of random read and write operations. Tests are taken in 512b, 4KB, 64KB, 1MB, and random file sizes. The performance of the drive is reported in operations a second (IOPS), average access time and average speed. Here are both the results from the read and write random access tests.

As I always say we like to see over 5000 IOPS in the 4K test, but obviously with this drive we set our sights a little bit higher.  We were not disappointed!  The drive scored 9618 IOPS read and 21591 IOPS write in the 4K test.

Finally we have the file benchmark.

Now you can see the real power of the drive, just over 900MB/s read and 825MB/s write.
