Only A Small Percentage of Ryzen 3000 CPUs will Actually Hit their Advertised Speeds

We’ve been hearing about this since the Ryzen 3000 series launch and in our own testing our results echoed the same thing, that most Ryzen 3000 series CPUs will not hit their advertised boost speeds. World famous overclocker Der8auer has published a new survey based on almost 3000 entries from people around the world. The conclusion is that these CPUs are not hitting their boosts speeds. Looking at the results we can see the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X is only hitting its advertised boost speeds 5.6% of the time. Other CPUs in the 3000 series did better like the Ryzen 5 3600, which hit its advertised speeds about half of the time.

Der8auer still recommends Ryzen 3000 series CPUs, as do we, as they give you a good value and performance. But it is quite odd that AMD did not specify what you need to reach the advertised boost clock speeds. You can check out his video and findings below…
