Patriot Viper VPN110 NVMe SSD Review

Patriot Viper VPN110 Overview

The first thing we noticed about the VPN110 was the black aluminum heatsink that takes up the entire length of the drive. That is probably a good thing, since Patriot really points out this feature in their marketing materials.

The heatsink has a matte finish with a white Patriot logo on the top, and the wavy design is broken up into multiple sections thanks to various cutouts along the length of the drive.

Running along the entire length of the heatsink are multiple “chambers” that allow for any airflow over the drive to aide in the cooling of the controller and memory modules used on the VPN110. It is worth noting that the heatsink is permanently attached to the drive, so this drive would need to be used in a desktop configuration where the M.2 slot would allow for a built-in drive heatsink to be used.

The backside of the drive features a label with various notations regarding the drive model and capacity, serial number, and more. The VPN110 is a single-sided drive, so aside from the sticker, there isn’t much to talk about.
