What are the Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed Gaming Earbuds like?
The Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed gaming earbuds will come in a charging case. This case is pretty small, definitely pocketable, and I would say is about the same size as the charging case that came with my AirPods Pro 3’s. The earbuds themselves will give you 10 hours of battery life, but with the charging case that increases to 40 hours, so essentially the charging case can charge the earbuds 3 times over. Right on the bottom of the charging case is a USB-C connection.

The earbuds themselves slide right into the charging case and do sort of lock into place. I was able to flip the charging case over and shake it without either of the earbuds or the 2.4 GHz dongle coming out. One thing that I haven’t seen from other earbuds before is that the charging case serves as a USB passthrough. So you can actually use the 2.4 GHz dongle while it is in the case. This means your case will be charging, but you can still use the earbuds. This actually makes a lot of sense, especially for people who have limited USB-C ports.
The dongle itself is a simple USB-C dongle. This allows for ultra-low-latency 2.4GHz connectivity between your device and the earbuds. These earbuds also offer Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity without the dongle. With Razer SmartSwitch the earbuds can be connected to two devices at the same time you can easily switch between them. This is great if you are gaming on a PC or console and want to answer a call on your phone. It is worth noting that there is no pass-through on the USB dongle so if you are using this with something that only has a single USB-C connection that it also uses for charging you won’t be able to charge your device.

Now the earbuds have a more simple, ergonomic design rather than an aggressive “gamer” aesthetic. They are all black with a Razer logo on the outer face of each earbud. You are going to get touch controls here, which are built into the outer face of each bud, letting you play/pause, skip tracks, adjust volume, mute the mic, and answer calls with quick taps. When it comes to weight each bud is only 5.6 grams and inside you’ll find an 11mm dynamic driver. This larger drive makes these earbuds a bit larger than your standard earbud, but not by much.
