Razer’s Raptor Is No Dinosaur; New 27″ Display Shown At CES 2019

When Razer told us they had a monitor to show us, we were a bit nervous, as this would be a somewhat new area for the gaming brand to move into. All of those nerves went away as soon as we caught a glimpse of the screen and it’s impressive specifications and features.

The 27″ Raptor is outfitted with a 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS panel, that has a super-fast 1ms response time with their motion bluring technology enabled. Assisting with gaming duties is support for AMD’s FreeSync, and the 144Hz refresh rate will surely provide smooth gameplay for gamers.

This monitor was designed from the ground up, and that is especially apparent in two areas on the Raptor. The first we want to highlight is the wide and sturdy stand. Aside from an RGB LED illuminated base, the monitor stand has built-in cable management for the full set of included display cables.

Another awesome feature of the stand is that it can tilt back completely flat, giving you easy access to the ports on the back of the screen.

The second highlight of the monitor’s construction is the back panel. Now this is usually a pretty boring area to consider, but Razer chose to use a combination of aluminum and fabric to give a different look and feel. If you think about it, an aluminum frame underneath allows the cloth surface to passively vent hot air without the need for larger ventilation cutouts.

The Razer Raptor will be available sometime in the first half of 2019, with an expected price tag of $699.
