Ryzen 9 3900X Shortages Causing Inflated Prices on Amazon & eBay

AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X is one great processor, not only for gaming, but content creation. In our review we awarded the processor a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award. It is no surprise that the demand for the Ryzen 9 3900X is through the roof! It is pretty much sold out everywhere. If you are really looking to get the chip you can either turn to private sellers on Amazon or eBay, but expect to pay a massive mark-up.

The retail price of the Ryzen 9 3900X is $499. Looking on Amazon it is selling for $699.99 from a private seller. Moving over to eBay most of the listings start around the $600 mark, with one optimistic buy it now listing for $999. Looking at the “sold listings” it looks like buyers are willing to pay anywhere from $650 – $700.

Luckily for some who live close to a Micro Center, certain locations have the Ryzen 9 3900X available for in-store pickup with no mark-up at all.

In a statement to PC World, AMD said: “This is a historic launch for AMD with eight CPU and GPU products for gamers launching simultaneously.”

“We are providing significant product volumes to our retail and e-tail partners. We’re excited to see the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Radeon 5700 Series and Ryzen 3000 series desktop processors. AMD is working quickly to restock e-tail and retail partners globally following significant demand.”
