Samsung Announces 870 EVO SATA SSD Series

Today, Samsung has officially announced its 870 EVO SATA SSD series. The series features a storage capacity of up to 4 TB, which is less than what other SSDs in the market offer. The series fulfills this shortcoming as it features Samsung’s 128-layer TLC (Triple-Layer-Cell) NAN, which increases the endurance and performance of an SSD compared to QLC-based SSDs.

The series features a read and write speed of up to 560 MB/s and 530 MB/s, respectively. It also features a “variable SLC” cache, which means that the SSD’s maximum size will decrease when its available free space decreases. The SSD series also features the company’s Intelligent TurboWrite, which helps keep the SSDs SATA 6 Gbps saturation consistent for as long as possible until a decrease in performance is noticed. The SSD series also features 98K IOPS Random Read and 88K IOPS Write.
