Samsung and AMD seem to be looking at a long strategic partnership. Samsung has teamed up with AMD and ARM to enhance its chipmaking capabilities, which is a good move now that Apple Silicon is a thing. It looks like the first Exynos chip with AMD GPU could be coming by 2023.
The information comes from Ice Universe, a regular leaker of all things Samsung. We recently got leaks about the Galaxy S21 series, which will come with the Exynos 9840. Ice Universe had some insight into the upcoming Exynos generations:
As we all know
Exynos9830=Exynos990, Exynos9840=Exynos2100,
Now, Samsung is developing Exynos9855 and Exynos9925, the latter may be a processor with AMD GPU pic.twitter.com/LixFZNBNXD— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) October 15, 2020
This generation is a little far away though. Samsung is focusing on improving performance with Exynos, and we will see the Exynos 2100 release later this year, to take on the Snapdragon 875. The plan seems to be to improve performance and then introduce the Exynos 9925 with an AMD GPU, in 2023.
