Well it looks like Sapphire is working on not only one, but two new Radeon R9 290X’s with 8GB of video memory! These are the Radeon R9 290X Toxic and the R9 290X Vapor-X 8GB. These will be the first consumer (non-professional) graphics cards with 8GB of video memory!
Sapphire was showing off the R9 290X Toxic at CeBIT. The card is said to have a massive factory-overclock, which might give it a shot at the performance crown from NVIDIA’s GTX Titan Black. The card will be equipped with a vapor-chamber cooling solution with three large fans and black and yellow colors, much like we saw on Sapphire’s R9 280X Toxic.
The Toxic card will not be the only R9 290X with 8GB of VRAM. The card will most likely have a factory overclock, but not as OC heavy as the Toxic card. It will have the same cooling solution as the Toxic card, but will be colored black and blue.
No word yet on when Sapphire will be launching these cards.
