Installation
We will be installing the Big Shuriken 3 on our AM4 system. The first thing that you going to want to do is remove the stock retention modules on each side of the CPU socket. Keep the stock backplate in place as you’ll be mounting directly to it.
Next go ahead and take the AM4 spacers and place them on top of the holes in your motherboard. Now take the AMD mounting bars and install them just like you see in the second photo below.
Now apply your thermal paste on your CPU. To actually get the cooler on your CPU you’ll need to remove the fan first. With the fan removed carefully place it on top of your CPU lining up the screws with the holes in the mounting bars. Screw the cooler in to secure it, finally reinstall the fan and connect to the CPU fan header on your motherboard and you are good to go.
As you can see the cooler actually fits perfectly over the memory, which means you shouldn’t have clearance issues with most memory kits. It does however mean that you’ll likely block your memory, which is a bummer if you have RGB memory.
