Seagate Manager Software
The Seagate Manager software is the same software that came with both the FreeAgent Desk and FreeAgent Go which we recently reviewed, but if you missed those reviews I will go over the software for you. When you open up the Seagate Manager it will show how many FreeAgent drives you have connected and how much free space is on each drive. If you select a drive and click on settings you can adjust the power setting, test the drive, adjust the LEDs, and check for a software update.
Moving on to the Backup tab there are 2 different backups, a simple backup will backup your My Documents folder every day at 10PM. The custom backup allows you to select the folders you want to backup, file types, and times and days you want the backup to occur. You can only have 1 backup plan per drive.
Since you only have 1 backup plan per drive you can Sync folders as well. Just like the backups you have simple and custom options. The simple sync will sync you’re my Documents folder. If you choose custom you can select the folders, file types, and sync rules.
Finally this drive does support encryption. You must first enter a password to create your encrypted folder. You can drag and drop files into the folder for them to be encrypted. They are easily decrypted as well.
