Taking a first look at the Sony INZONE H9 II it has a clean, minimalist design that looks noticeably more refined than many traditional gaming headsets. Sony has removed unnecessary structural elements to reduce the weight to just 260 grams. The headset still has a distinctly gaming-focused appearance, but its smooth surfaces, subtle INZONE branding, and lack of aggressive RGB lighting allow it to fit just as naturally into a work setup. Sony offers the INZONE H9 II in black and white, with the black model providing a more understated look and the white version matching the styling of the PlayStation 5 and other white gaming peripherals. As you can see we have the white version here. The headset also has a lay-flat design that allows you to easy fit it in a backpack or the included soft pouch.

The INZONE H9 II uses a redesigned headband that combines a lightweight upper frame with a padded suspension strap underneath, helping spread the headset’s 260-gram weight more evenly across the top of your head. Rather than pulling directly on the earcups to change the fit, Sony places a locking slider button on each side of the headband. Press and hold these buttons while moving the sliders up or down to adjust the height, then release them to lock the headset into position. Each side can be adjusted independently, allowing you to fine-tune the fit for your head shape and keep the earcups properly centered over your ears. The adjustment system takes a moment to get used to, but once set, it holds its position securely during longer gaming sessions.

Each earcup on the INZONE H9 II is fitted with a thick, fabric-covered cushion that completely surrounds the ear. The soft, breathable material provides a secure seal without trapping as much heat as synthetic leather, making the headset more comfortable during longer gaming sessions. Inside each closed-back earcup is a 30 mm carbon-composite dynamic driver—the same driver unit used in Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM6 headphones. The lightweight and rigid diaphragm is designed to reproduce a broad range of frequencies with clarity, helping subtle details such as distant footsteps remain easy to distinguish while still delivering enough low-end impact for explosions, music, and cinematic effects.

The right earcup contains the INZONE H9 II’s wireless and game-chat controls, keeping the layout relatively simple. At the top is a two-way Game/Chat Balance button, which lets PC users raise the game audio or voice-chat level without opening the INZONE Hub software. Below that is the Bluetooth button and its blue status indicator, used for pairing and managing the headset’s Bluetooth connection. The power button sits farther down alongside a white indicator that displays power and USB-transceiver connection status.

The left earcup holds most of the INZONE H9 II’s frequently used audio controls and physical connections. A textured microphone button lets you quickly mute or unmute the detachable boom microphone, while the nearby NC/AMB button cycles between active noise canceling, Ambient Sound, and normal listening modes. Sony also includes a dedicated volume dial with a tactile marker on the louder side, making it easier to locate and adjust by feel during a game. Along the bottom are separate 3.5 mm connections for the detachable boom microphone and included audio cable, as well as a USB Type-C port for charging the headset. An orange charging indicator provides a quick visual reference for battery and charging status.

The INZONE H9 II includes a detachable, extended-boom cardioid microphone with a foam windscreen and a flexible arm that can be bent toward your mouth. Its cardioid pickup pattern focuses primarily on your voice, while AI-based noise reduction helps suppress distractions such as cooling fans, keyboard noise, and nearby conversations. The microphone also supports Super Wide Band voice transmission for clearer, more natural-sounding communication.
