Man Sues Microsoft for $600M After A Failed Windows Upgrade Bricked His PC

If a Windows update bricks your PC you should sue Microsoft, for a lot! I guess that was the mindset of an Albuquerque man who is suing the company because of a failed forced Windows 10 upgrade. In return the man is seeking 600 million in damages, yes SIX HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS!

In a recent blog post Microsoft detailed some new features that have become available for Microsoft's Inside Program fast ring users. The one that catches most attention is "Ultimate Performance Mode". This is a performance plan integrated into Windows, which more or less throws all of the power saving features out of the window to make sure your system is running at peak performance.

Microsoft Office 2019 Will Only Run On Windows 10

We told you about the new Windows customer SKUs yesterday that Microsoft intends to implement later this year, but it seems the changes keep on coming. Microsoft has just officially announced that Office 2019 will only work on machines with Windows 10 and the next LTSC release of Windows Server. This is of course to another effort to force Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to upgrade to 10.

Windows 10 Consumer SKU Roadmap Revealed

Microsoft will soon be launching Windows 10 Redstone 4 and with it will come changes to how the company is positioning the software as well as pricing for its partners. From the information it looks like we will have 5 new SKUs for partners to use with their products. These SKUs are labeled as Entry ($25), Value ($45), Core ($65.45), Core+ ($86.66), and Advanced ($101).

Windows 10 Passes Windows 7 In Global Market Share

According to StatCounter, which is a web analytics company 2018 was the year we saw a flip in the most popular operating system. This year Windows 10 finally surpassed the old and very trustworthy Windows 7. As per the StatCounter data in January 2018 Windows 10 represented 42.78 of the worldwide desktop market share, that is just a little bit above Windows 7's 41.86%.

New “Game Mode” Coming To Windows 10

It looks like a "Game Mode" will be coming to the Windows 10 operating system. In an upcoming build of the OS (14997) a feature ominously named "gamemode.dll" has been discovered. This is started speculation of what it might be. Many people think that it could be a special runlevel that is optimized for PC gaming. It is more than likely that when you are in Game Mode the operating system prioritizes CPU, Memory, and GPU allocation to games being run.
