ASUS Readying 19 Motherboards for Z390 Chipset

ASUS is working on at least 19 motherboards for the "Coffee Lake-S" refresh. The Z390 chipset is basically a re-branding of the current Z370 chipset with a stronger reference CPU VRM to cope with Intel's upcoming 8-core, 16-thread "Wiskey Lake" processors. ASUS's Z390 lineup will be made up of Maximus XI, STRIX, Prime, TUF and Dragon series boards.

Intel to Shelf Z390 Express Chipset

According to the latest reports Intel will be shelving the iteration of their upcoming Z390 Express chipset, which they had detailed last month. This chipset was sure to have new hardware features. Intel could now re-brand the current Z370 Express chipset as Z390 Express and simply bolster its reference design with heftier CPU VRM specifications, which will be for the upcoming 8-core LGA1151 processors.

Intel Details Their Upcoming Z390 Chipset

Intel has released a product brief of their upcoming Z390 Express chipset, which will sit above the Z370 Express chipset. This new chipset will support current 8th generation Core "Coffee Lake" processors, and will be ready for the next generation of processors as well.

300-Series Chipset From Intel To Feature Z390 In 2018

The Intel news train has been running at full steam this week, and up next is the sighting of an upcoming Z390 chipset for their enthusiast consumer line. While we have known about the impending Z370 chipset, the Z390 will release sometime in the second half of 2018. Since we have no specification details about the Z390 chipset, it is currently anyone's guess as to what might be in store for Coffee Lake enthusiasts.
