The GeForce GTX Titan X Successor Should Be 50% Faster Than The GTX 1080

NVIDIA is already making gamers happy with their successful launch of both the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards, so what is next? Well it looks like we will have a Titan X successor and it will be quite powerful!

Both the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are based off NVIDIA’s GP104 GPU. Well a GP102-400 GPU has been spotted and has the ‘full fat’ core that everyone is looking for. This GPU should make its way to the Titan X successor, and we could possibly see it on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

Now don’t expect this card to have HBM2, I just don’t think that is going to happen. First off HBM2 yields are still not that great and secondly NVIDIA is using all of their HBM2 stock for the Tesla P100. NVIDIA will more than likely use the newer GDDR5X on the Titan X successor. Using HBM2 has no real performance benefit right now and using HBM2 would increase the cost of the card by 50%.

The Titan X launched at $999 so expect the Titan X successor to launch at a similar price or even higher.

Will a ‘full fat’ GP102-400 powering it the Titan X successor we should expect to see 50% more performance than the GTX 1080, and that would just be awesome!
