Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB 16GB DDR4-4000 Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts

As I said at the beginning of this review it really is hard to come up with a memory module design that stands out and it seems Thermaltake has done it twice. First with the original TOUGHRAM RGB modules and now with the TOUGHRAM XG RGB. Not only is the heatspreader unique with its two distinct sides, but then you have the RGB lighting on two different levels on each module. It really makes for something that is going to look great in your system. The RGB lighting is easy enough to control with Thermaltake’s TOUGHRAM software, but you can also control it with your motherboard’s software as well.

While the TOUGHRAM software does work, it is a little clunky and for some reason takes a while to load for us.

While this kit looks great how does it perform? We are happy to report that the memory did great in all of our tests. Beyond that we were able to overclock the kit from its default 4000 MHz all the way up to 4400 MHz without touching the voltage or timings! That is very impressive. Thermaltake is offering the TOUGHRAM XG RGB in 16GB (2x8GB) kits ranging from 3600 MHz all the way up to 4600 MHz.

Right now the 16GB 4000 MHz kit that we reviewed today is selling at our favorite online retailer for $178.43. I think that if you are looking for a new RGB kit this one should be on your list! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB 16GB DDR4-4000 Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score!
