Titan Fenrir TTC-NK85TZ CPU Cooler Review

Installation
Installing the Titan Fenrir isn’t necessarily the quickest installation that I’ve done, but I have to say after it’s completed it does provide a secure hold to the motherboard. I installed the Fenrir for the LGA 775 installation. The directions aren’t very detailed, but I think they provide enough detail for you to figure it out on your own.

For starters, clean off the thermal grease on your CPU if you have any on there; I typically use a cleaning wipe and dry it off with a soft cloth. You’ll then want to grab the correct backplate; there are two that come with it. You’ll have to place the backplate on a flat surface, with the black side facing up, and then place the four bolts facing upwards into the four slots for the LGA775 installation. This is kind of tricky and might take you a couple tries to get all of the bolts in. Then place your motherboard overtop of the bracket and put the four black washers over the bolt holes.

The 1366, i7, backplate already has the bolts built into it while the LGA775/AMD bracket you need to attach the bolts yourself.

Once you get that all into place you can now attach the four nuts over the bolts; you can hand tighten these. They don’t grip very well at first to the bolts, so I’d recommend attaching the four bolts to the screws a bit and then lifting the motherboard up and holding the bolt while you tighten the nut. Once you get that completed you can add your thermal paste. The included thermal paste is fairly thick and there’s just enough to place on the CPU.

The next step is to actually place the heatsink onto the motherboard. You’ll want to get the H-plate fit into the holes on the heatsink base. Once you get that on you’ll want to install the heatsink so that the Fenrir logo is upside down if you’re looking at your motherboard with the CPU near the top. Then just simply align the holes on the H-plate up with the four screws sticking up from the nuts and tighten them with the provided thumbscrews.

Then you’ll want to attach the 120mm fan to the wider side with the shorter contour on it. Also make sure to have the fan blowing over the heatsink, you can tell this by finding the arrows on the fan; they should be on at least one side, that indicate the airflow and fan direction. To attach the fan you’ll need to use the two clips provided. I’ve done this a couple of times before so it’s fairly easy for me, but if you haven’t ever used these clips before it might take you a couple of tries to get it attached.

Once installed properly the Fenrir should provide plenty of room for the rest of your PC installation and shouldn’t interfere with any devices.
