The Tesla infotainment system now supports Steam library games. Although it took considerably longer than expected, Tesla Model S and X equipped with the most recent hardware platform may now play Steam games. According to Elon Musk, the system is capable of running a huge number of games from the library.
This statement comes more than a year after Musk announced that the upgraded platform would have roughly 10 TFLOPS of processing power, which is comparable to the PlayStation 5 system. The infotainment system is compatible with a feature known as “Arcade mode,” which now enables users to download and play games from the Steam library. Musk adds that it is also feasible to play using a keyboard and gaming pad.
Tesla’s system is built on AMD hardware, with an older Zen+ Embedded architecture and powerful RDNA2 graphics. It is said to be based on Navi 23 and equipped with 28 Compute Units. While the product’s precise specifications are unknown, it is believed to function similarly to Radeon RX 6600M graphics.
All games that have been validated to be compatible with Steam Deck should be supported by a system that features an even slower GPU. However, this includes games like Forza Horizon 5, Witcher 3, and Elden Ring. Musk has personally tested Cyberpunk 2077 and confirmed that it works great.
The company previously announced its own Tesla-branded gamepad, but there was no word on when it would be available.
