Zotac Reveals Two New GeForce GTX 970 Models

Even after receiving some very positive feedback on their launch version of the GTX 970, Zotac has decided to make some changes to the cooler and release a couple of more options for their customers.

The first version is the 970 Amp! Extreme Core Edition which is releasing in two weeks at the 379.99 price point. This non-reference unit features a three fan configuration over copper heat pipes with air exhausting into the case. The biggest change from the launch edition is the removal of materials from the shroud. Zotac put the Amp! Extreme Core Edition on a diet and removed the front lighting opting instead for some sections that resemble carbon fiber. The shroud and cooler itself are also thinner than the previous version. Amazingly thanks to a careful selection of only highly binned chips, this doesn’t negatively effect performance. The core clock is set at 1228mhz with the boost clock reaching 1380mhz. Load temps should be around 66° C and with sound levels of only 33dB.

The other version of the 970 Zotac brought to CES is the 970 Amp! Omega Core Edition. In this version the cooler is scaled back even further but is still a three fan variant. We find a simple but stylish metal casing with three thin fans and a thin cooling core. This version isn’t as highly binned and the clocks are set lower. Expect a base clock of 1152 mhz with a boost clock of 1304 mhz. This version is releasing next week with an MSRP of $359.99
