200TB Solid State Drives Could Arrive This Year From Nimbus Data

Ever thought of having an SSD that gives you a massive 200 TB of space? Imagine having all this free space for your gaming storage and not having to worry about the large size of gaming updates. This isn’t far from reality anymore. It is likely that we see 200 TB solid state drives this year.

Nimbus Data is the name behind this dream and is already working towards making it a reality. The name is a giant in the industry and has been a provider of scalable and high performance flash memory solutions for data centers for quite some time now. The company has hinted towards introducing a 200 TB massive SSD. This doesn’t seem to be such a far-fetched idea. Nimbus Data is already the name behind the 100TB ExaDrive DC100. It would be challenging to double this capacity but the company might have a few tricks up its sleeves.

Nimbus Data CEO Thomas Isakovich told TechRadar, “We are working on a successor to the 100TB SSD that will deliver even more capacity, performance, and energy-efficiency than the groundbreaking 100TB, and expect to deliver this next-generation SSD in 2022,”

Although Isakovich didn’t specifically mention the size to be 200 TB, there isn’t much reason for Nimbus Data to work on anything smaller than 200 TB (at least double the size of their 100 TB SSD).
