SteelSeries is reportedly adding three new models to its featherlight gaming mice lineup. The three new models are the Aerox 9 Wireless, the Aerox 5 Wireless, and the Aerox 5. All these three models will up the game with even more buttons. Apparently, SteelSeries has listened to the demands of their gaming users who were calling for more configuration options. Along with this, they are claiming these mice to be the lightest multi-genre mice on the planet.
Getting down to the truth, these latest additions aren’t going to be the lightest around. According to SteelSeries, the button to weight ratio isn’t going to be improved as compared to the one on the rest of the Aerox lineup. But having said that, these are still incredibly lightweight devices. The Aerox 5 is the lightest among all these. The mouse is wired and weighs just 66 grams. This is only slightly heavier than the Aerox 3 2022 Edition which weighs only 59 grams. The added weight can be justified with the three new buttons added to the Aerox 5 making a total of nice buttons on the device. Considering the number of buttons on the mouse, the weight is still impressive. Along with more buttons, this model also comes with an upgraded 18,000 CPI sensor.
If you decide to go for the wireless version, you will be benefiting from the same button and sensor upgrades with a minor increase in weight. The wireless Aerox 5 weighs 74 grams. For connectivity, this variant has a 2.4GHz wireless dongle or Bluetooth which will last for up to 180 hours without charge. Thanks to the Quantum 2.0 wireless technology, you will need a 15 minutes charge only to get you through 40 hours of usage. The Aerox 5 wireless is priced at $139.99 while the wired variant is going to retail at $79.99.
The most high-end out of all these new models is the wireless Aerox 9. Weighing a total of 89 grams, this one comes with 18 configuration buttons and a dozen thumb buttons. The charging and wireless play time for this is the same as that of the Aerox 5. The Aerox 9 is priced at $149.99.
