You Might Not be Able To Buy PS5 in Stores Due to COVID-19

The PS5 will launch in November and most of the units are reserved for those who pre-ordered the PS5, but you might have some hope that you can just wait in the long queues to purchase your PS5 from the store.

The report from Norwegian site Gamer.no says that the stock is short and Sony is also putting pressure on its retailers, not to stock or sell any units in-store. Additional units will be sold online through delivery or in-store pickup. Sony has made it clear.

The reason behind this is that Sony doesn’t want to portray itself as an aid to the spread of Covid-19 once the images of people lined up for PS5 make rounds on the internet.

The report is specifically for Norway, but rumors suggest that a similar strategy might be implemented in Europe, in general. Sony’s strategy might be different for every region; hence you can assume that no in-store PS5 sales will happen this year. Sony’s has made a wise decision considering the second wave of Covid-19.

The PS5 will launch on November 12 or 19, depending on your region.
