ADATA SE800 Portable Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts
This year is definitely going to be the year of USB 3.2 gen 2 portable solid state drives. With USB 3.2 gen 2 you are basically doubling the speed you previously had with USB 3.2 gen 1. This means faster transfer speeds making it easier and faster to pull data off the drive.

Looking at our performance results, in CrystalDiskMark the drive was very close to its advertised speeds with read and write speeds of 941.8 MB/s and 851.2 MB/s respectively. It is definitely a nice upgrade in terms of speed over the SE730H.

ADATA has kept the same overall design that we saw with the SE730H and that is a proven design. Since we received the SE730H back in 2017 it has been our go-to portable drive and has survived drops, being inside a wet backpack and more. The metal chassis means that it can easily take a beating and the IP68 rating (when the cap is closed) give you dust and water proofing. The overall design of the drive also makes it pocket-able and easy enough to throw in a backpack or laptop bag. It was also nice that this time ADATA threw in a Type-C to Type-A adapter cable, the SE730H only had a Type-C cable.

There really is not much bad to say about this drive. Right now the 512GB version of the drive is selling for $99.99 at our favorite online retailer. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA SE800 Portable Solid State Drive a 10 out of 10 score.
