Fast, portable solid state drives are nothing new. They are great for content creators and people on the go who want fast storage. Last year we saw many USB 3.2 gen 1 drives with speeds around 500 MB/s, but this year we are seeing many new USB 3.2 gen 2 drives and one of those is the ADATA SE800. The SE800 features read and write speeds of 1000 MB/s, comes in a small, pocketable form factor and is IP68 dust and waterproof as well as MIL-STD-810G 516.6 shockproof so it can take a beating. Is this the ultimate portable solid state drive? Read on as we find out.
Special thanks to ADATA for providing us with the SE800 Portable Solid State Drive to review.
The SE800 comes in ADATA’s typical retail packaging. On the front there is a picture of the drive and its lets us know the capacity, which in our case is 512GB. It is also available in a 1TB version as well. Flipping over to the back we have the specifications of the drive listed in a few different languages.
Getting everything out of the box we have the SE800 portable solid state drive, USB Type-C cable, USB Type-C to Type-A cable, and a quick start guide.
