ADATA SR800 Magnetic Power Bank SSD
This is a really interesting product from ADATA. I think if you fit into the use case that ADATA has in mind for the SR800, it is going to be the perfect device for you.
One of the biggest issues with the iPhone in general, but especially when you are shooting 4K ProRes video is battery life. So having that 5,000 mAh wireless power bank is definitely clutch here! If you are recording ProRes footage you need a portable SSD, there is no other way to do it. This means that you’ll have to be holding the SSD while you are recording or get a magnetic SSD. If you get a magnetic SSD you lose out on charging, so you see why the SR800 makes so much sense. On top of that you also get a stand, which definitely comes in handy, especially on flights!
When it comes to the SSD I really like that it is fully removable from the power bank. This way if you just wanted to use the portable SSD it does not take up as much space as the whole unit itself. Also the SSD itself is USB 3.2 gen 2×2 so when you are transferring files to your PC you are going to get the fastest speeds possible.
Now if you want just a wireless magnetic charger there are better options out there, which are thinner. And of course there are magnetic portable SSDs too, but if you need both this really does solve that problem!
Right now you can pick up the 1TB version of the SR800 for $181.99 directly from ADATA or from Memory Express in Canada, which is not a horrible price considering the prices of storage lately. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA SR800 Magnetic Power Bank SSD a 9 out of 10 score.
