Whether you install the Eisbaer Extreme horizontally or vertically, it’s up to you how you showcase your water cooling system.
Packaging
Everything about the Eisbaer Extreme is big and it starts with the box. This rectangular, dark themed behemoth will touch down on your doorstep sporting the customary matte black and blues of AlphaCool. On the front of the box you’ll find a thematically lit image of the cooler on the left and white font and graphics boasting the features and compatibility to the right. Flipping to the back you’ll find the same information from the front repeated with a slightly different shot of the cooler. This one features the CPU block mostly.
Another flip takes us to the bottom of the box and again we find the same image of the cooler from the front and not much else. The remaining side and the ends of the box are all basically matte black with the alphacool.com url listed. While the packaging is fine, it does seem like Alphacool missed a lot of opportunities to show of the product and list specs.
Opening the flip top box we are greeted by the hose and CPU block wrapped in plastic and just about smothered in soft plastic foam. Normally with all in one coolers we find a nice molded egg carton container with a space for every little bit and bob. Or occasionally form fitting foam. What we find with the Eisbaer Extreme is a bit of a jumble of foam bits all shoved in place and double sided tapep into place. Now don’t take this the wrong way, it works. For the initial shipment. Nothing inside is damaged and everything has arrived as it was when shipped from the factory. But say that for some reason you have a need to box the cooler up again, it’s going to be pretty difficult to get it just right.
When you finish unboxing, you’re really left with a mess of foam shapes and sticky tape. Fortunately that is where that complication ends, all bits of kit removed, you’ll find the cooler itself enclosed in a single long plastic bag, a large bag with multiple small bags of installation materials, and a manual in many languages.
