We previously reported on substantial price drops for the Ryzen 7000 series in the US, EU, and UK, but it looks like the price drops have gone much further. Amazon is running a limited-time discount on the Ryzen 9 7950X for $549.99, the lowest price it has ever been.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, a Zen4 CPU with 16 cores, is the most powerful and, at the moment, the most pricey AMD desktop processor. That was the case before the launch of this week’s sales. The 7950X is now being sold at the official MSRP of the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X, which means that you are effectively getting 4 more cores at no extra cost.
In contrast, the Ryzen 9 7900X is now only $473, while the 8-core and 6-core Zen4 desktop CPUs have dropped to $349 and $249, respectively. This implies that AMD’s 7000 CPUs, introduced less than two months ago, are now at least 15% cheaper.
Amazon’s AMD Ryzen 7000 series:
Ryzen 9 7950X – $549.99
Ryzen 9 7900X – $473.99
Ryzen 7 7700X – $348.99
Ryzen 5 7600X – $248.99
It would appear that the discounts we’ve been enjoying this week are merely temporary, lasting only until Black Friday week and that regular rates will resume shortly. The fact that AMD has removed the ‘New Low Price’ branding from its official shop indicates that the current markdowns are temporary.
Regardless, this may be the best and final opportunity to purchase new AM5 CPUs before AMD announces its Ryzen 7000X3D series with 3D V-Cache or Intel releases even cheaper alternatives.
