When it comes to Gigabyte’s X299 lineup the current flagship motherboard is the AORUS X299 Gaming 9. This is actually the third “Gaming 9” motherboard we’ve taken a look at from Gigabyte. Previously we took a look at the AORUS Z270X-Gaming 9, and the Gigabyte X99-Ultra Gaming. These boards are designed to pack in as many features as possible and are specifically designed for gamers and enthusiasts. The new AORUS X299 Gaming 9 does just that and the feature list is extensive, but here are some of the main features, 3-way graphics support, a server class digital power design, Killer DoubleShot Pro and Intel networking, triple M.2 slots and a PCIe expansion card giving you 1 more M.2, Creative Sound BlasterX 720 audio, Killer 2×2 802.11ac WiFi, USB 3.1, and more RGB LEDs than any other X299 board out there! The AORUS X299 Gaming 9 has close to the same packaging we saw on the AORUS Z270X-Gaming 9, the front of the box has a large AORUS logo on it and lets us know that we indeed have the X299 Gaming 9 board, as well as logos for the various features on the board.
Flipping over to the back there is an explanation of many of the different features of the board, a full rear I/O overview and a list of specifications. I fell that if you were at the store taking a look here would give you more than enough information to make an educated purchase.
This board comes with quite a lot of accessories. Main accessories include six SATA cables, large sheet of AORUS stickers, AORUS case badge, two thermal probes, two RGB extension cables, G-connector, two Velcro ties, a digital RGB 5v and 12v splitter, WiFI antenna, driver and software CD, and a user’s guide.
Three other great things that you don’t typically find with motherboards are included with this board. First you have a PCIe riser card that houses a M.2 slot. The card has a large heatsink on it with the AORUS logo and looks pretty cool. Next is a M.2 to U.2 adapter, this is great if you plan on using a U.2 device. And finally you have a SLI HB bridge, which is very high quality.
