ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

As stated multiple times throughout our review, the AIO landscape hasn’t changed much in the last few years with the exception of adding RGB lighting to pumps and fans. With only so many design changes available to manufacturers due to patents and other limitations, we were really glad to see some of the different steps ARCTIC took with the Liquid Freezer II 240 to differentiate this product from the field. The inclusion of a dedicated 40mm fan to keep nearby VRMs cool is a welcome addition to the pump unit, and the stealthy fan cabling and single PWM connection ease the installation burden in addition to keeping things looking tidy.

As far as performance goes, the 38mm radiator provides a bit more time for air to flow through the fins, grabbing heat as it goes. Pushing that air are two 5-blade, 120mm fans that are conveniently preinstalled in a push configuration and powered via a hidden cable that runs beneath the cooling line’s braided sleeving. The new PWM pump’s copper base is compatible with current AMD and Intel configurations, and the included mounting hardware makes installation quite easy. This combination of components resulted in the best temperatures we have seen so far in our new test system.

Some folks may miss the RGB lighting with this kit, but there is definitely still a crowd that preffers their products sans-RGB. Without this lighting, ARCTIC is able to outfit this cooler with the VRM fan for better performance, especially when overclocking, while still keeping the price very competitive. Available in 120mm, 240mm, 360mm, and 280mm versions, the Liquid Freezer II lineup is poised to be a great value, with our 240mm review model being available at our favorite retailer for just $84.99. As an option for those looking for a no nonsense AIO liquid cooler, we think the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 is definitely worth looking into, earning an 8 out of 10.
