ASUS has just announced that all of their 9 Series motherboards will support Intel’s upcoming 5th Generation Broadwell LGA 1150 CPUs with a simple UEFI BIOS update.
Last week we reported that Intel was showing off a 5th Generation Broadwell CPU at GDC 2015 that was using Intel’s Iris Pro graphics. We do not know official details of the socketed Broadwell chips just that they will be a 65W part, that they are unlocked and that they feature Intel’s Iris Pro graphics. We expect Intel to launch both Core i5 and Core i7 parts.
We are unsure if these new Broadwell chips will offer a significant performance boost over current Haswell parts. Broadwell is a more mobile-focused part designed for efficiency and lower power consumption.
In any case you should see the new UEFI updates on ASUS’s Z97 and H97 motherboard download pages.
