Unveiled at Computex 2023, the ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 ROG MATRIX stands as the pinnacle of NVIDIA GPU design. This graphics card boasts a cutting-edge AIO liquid cooler with liquid TIM application, and it claims to offer the highest GPU boost clock among all currently available custom RTX 4090 cards.

In a demonstration of the exceptional engineering behind the GeForce RTX 4090 ROG MATRIX, ASUS entrusted the GPU to renowned American overclocker, SPLAVE. Within the GPUPI v3.3 (32 Billion) benchmark, the graphics card, equipped with an LN2 pot and an exotic cooling solution, achieved remarkable frequency figures through some adjustments. Ultimately, ASUS’s ROG MATRIX GeForce RTX 4090 secured a world record-breaking frequency of 3945 MHz, equivalent to an astounding 3.94 GHz, just a few MHz shy of reaching the impressive 4 GHz milestone.

ASUS has surpassed the previous world record for GPU frequency, which was held by Colorful’s GeForce RTX 4090 iGame LAB edition, also utilizing LN2 cooling. The Colorful custom design achieved an astonishing core clock of 3930 MHz. In comparison, ASUS’s clock frequency surpasses it by a mere +15 MHz. It appears that the GeForce RTX 4090 is nearing its frequency limit, yet there remains hope for it to break the remarkable 4 GHz milestone.

If the current GeForce RTX 4090 falls short, our hopes may rest on the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Ti. This highly anticipated card will feature a higher-binned AD102 silicon, potentially enabling a record-breaking frequency of 4 GHz and beyond. Although ASUS has not yet released this card, it is anticipated to be available in limited quantities and come with a substantial premium price tag in the coming months.
