Final Thoughts on the ASUS TUF GAMING CAPTURE BOX-4KPRO
As I said in the beginning of this review two companies really dominate the capture card / streaming box market. So for ASUS to come into this market it definitely was risky, but with the TUF GAMING CAPTURE BOX-4KPRO they have a very solid product that can compete with those two companies.
In my testing I was easily able to get the capture box up and running and record and stream no problem. I did not notice any tearing, lag, or other issues when using the capture box. As a reminder you can record and stream at up to 4K 60 FPS and you do also have HDR passthrough video support of 4K up to 144 Hz. Another thing that is nice is that you can upscale or downscale your content which opens up a lot of possibilities.
I had no problem working with the ASUS Video Capture Console software. It will do all of your recording and streaming for you, but it is not necessarily required for you to use the TUF GAMING CAPTURE BOX-4KPRO. Using OBS the capture box showed up as a device and I was easily able to add it to my scene. While the software is good, it does not feel as fleshed out as what I’ve seen from Elgato.
The small design of the capture box means that not only does it not take up a bunch of space, but it is easy to take with you.
If you are looking to simply record your gameplay or are a serious streamer the ASUS TUF GAMING CAPTURE BOX-4KPRO is definitely something you should add to your arsenal.
