ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition Overview

This is the first TUF Gaming graphics card that we’ve had the chance to take a look at from the RTX 50 series and we can see that ASUS has updated the design a bit. You are still going to get that gunmetal color on most of the card, but now there are silver accent stripes on each end of the card. This adds to the industrial look of the card. When it comes to size the official dimensions of the card are 329 x 140 x 62.5 mm.

Embedded in the shroud of the card are our three cooling fans, which are ASUS’s Axial-tech fans. The two outer fans spin counterclockwise compared to the center fan which actually helps to reduce turbulence and enhance air dispersion. The fans are designed with the blades connecting to and outer frame which will spin with the fan. The center fan has the ASUS logo on it, while the other two have the TUF Gaming logo.

Looking at the card from the side we can see the two heatsink stacks connected by multiple heatpipes that make up the rest of the cooling solution. Unlike most cards ASUS has sort of wrapped the shroud around both sides of the card, not just the side that shows if you have a tempered glass side panel. Under the hood you are going to find certified military-grade TUF chokes and MOSFETs as well as TUF 5K black metallic capacitors. ASUS is making use of their phase-change thermal pad, protective PCB coating, and MaxContact design. These may sound like buzz words, but if you check out the product page you can see what each one of these features add to this card.

Now on the side of the card that does show if you have a glass side panel you’ll find a large GeForce RTX in the center and a smaller TUG Gaming logo towards the end of the card. This TUF Gaming logo will light up with RGB lighting when you power your system on. Right in the center of the card you’ll find your power connection which is of course a 12VHPWR. One thing to notice here is that there is a thermal pad here. This helps eliminate a lot of the “thermal soak” that occurs in this area. Right next to the 12VHPWR is a small switch. This switch is for the BIOS and you can select between Performance and Quiet mode. These are simply fan curves and by default the card will ship in performance mode.

Flipping the card over to the back you can see that we have a full-coverage metal backplate which does have the TUF Gaming logo on it. Towards the end of the card we have some ventilation to further help with cooling on the card.

The end of the card actually fully wrapped with the shroud. This means that if you have a glass front panel you’ll be able to see the TUF Gaming logo that’s here. When it comes to connections on the card you have three DisplayPort 2.1b and two HDMI 2.1b. This is one of the few RTX 5070’s you’ll find with two HDMI ports. As you can see the card is slotted for 2 slots, but it is actually a 3.1 slot card so keep that in mind.
