Final Thoughts on the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition
We’ve covered the RTX 5070 in general when it first came out back in March. In our testing it is essentially about 12-15% faster than the RTX 4070 at 1440p and only about 10-12% faster at 4K. These scores are pure rasterization (No RT or DLSS). With these type of results I would say the RTX 5070 is going to be a pretty solid 1440p card and an even better 1080p card. I wouldn’t necessarily choose this card for 4K as it only has 12GB of VRAM and the recently released AMD Radeon RX 9700 is a better choice as it has more available VRAM.
That is not to say this card can’t push a 4K monitor. With DLSS4 this is completely possible and multi-frame generation really takes performance to the next level. Previously with DLSS3 you would essentially get double the frame rate as it would generate a single new frame. With DLSS4 you can now generate 2 or even 3 frames which really improves performance significantly!
Now the reason you are reading this review is because you want to know about the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition specifically and if its worth choosing over all of the other RTX 5070 cards out there. I feel like it is one of the better offerings out there. First this is a TUF Gaming product so it has gone through all of the certified testing for reliability, which should really give you piece of mind. Talking about piece of mind you do get that thermal pad on the 12VHPWR connector which will take a lot of that thermal soak away. This is also one of the few RTX 5070’s that actually has two HDMI ports. Those things alone really set this card apart and I didn’t even mention the sleek design, factory overclock, great cooling solution and so much more!
Here is the issue, and this is not an ASUS issue specifically. You are going to see this with all new graphics cards it seems and that is both NVIDIA and AMD have set some pretty aggressive MSRPs for these cards. What I mean by that is based on the set MSRP it really does not leave the AIB much room to make any money on the card. That is why we’ve seen a sort of “first round” of MSRP cards and they have not been replenished as AIB’s make no money on these cards. Also that means that non-MSRP cards like this has pretty high premiums over MSRP cards. The RTX 5070 has an MSRP of $549, while this card retails for $739. While ASUS has done more than most for a non-MSRP card, a $190 premium is definitely hard to swallow especially considering an MSRP RTX 5070 Ti is $749. Again, we’ve seen this from pretty much all brands, not just ASUS.
I think this is one of the best RTX 5070’s out there and if you are in the market for an RTX 5070 you aren’t going to be disappointed picking this one up! Overall ThinkComputers gives the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition Graphics Card a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
