Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Hybrid Edition Review

Final Thoughts

Since getting my first sit-stand desk so many people have asked me why I got that type of desk and the big comment people make is “do you really stand and work?” There have been so many studies about the effects of sitting all day. Getting up our of your chair and standing is definitely better for you and on top of that just changes things around. For me my typical routine is to stand the first half of the day and then as a get tired I will go back to sitting. That what makes sit-stand desks so great, you can easily go from sitting to standing in seconds.

Autonomous makes it very easy to customize your desk and that is one of the best things. I of course went with the white XL tabletop with white frame, but you can choose the size and type of tabletop as well as the frame you want. The assembly process is quite easy too and you are provided with everything except a screwdriver, but I assume you have one of those laying around. The instructions are very easy to follow too, which is a great thing to see, especially if you’ve ever tried to put anything together from Ikea following their directions.

Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Hybrid Edition

When it comes to the specific SmartDesk 2 Hybrid Edition sit-stand desk that I received the first thing that I want to talk about is the XL tabletop. As I mentioned earlier in this review I wanted a desk where I could show off my build and still have room for the 34-inch ultra-wide monitor. The XL tabletop is 70.5″ x 30″ and provides more than enough real estate for that. I also like the extra space as I am a gamer that uses a low DPI setting so I have quite a lot of space to move my mouse around. One concern that I did have with the larger tabletop was the center sagging. I’ve seen this happen with larger Ikea desks, but it not apparent in this desk at all. The tabletop feels solid and does not have any give in it at all. Finally this desk is solid, I’ve reviewed desks in the past that are a little wobbly, especially after you get a monitor and other items on them, but this desk does not move around at all.

While there are quite a lot of choices when it comes to sit-stand desks I would highly recommend the desks from Autonomous. They are very affordable and can be customized to your liking. On top of that I have not have an issue with my original Autonomous desk from a few years ago. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Hybrid Edition a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
