Cooler Master Caliber R2 Gaming Chair Review

Introduction

So you get home from a long day at the office, and a stressful drive home, and the first thing you want to do is sit down and enjoy some games to start your relaxation. But when you go to sit down, you land on a flattened and defeated chair cushion. The frame of the chair creaks with age as you attempt to roll the worn out wheels across your floor to get into place. I don’t know about you, but that scenario doesn’t exactly sound relaxing. Thankfully there are a ton of seating options available for us gamers, and Cooler Master has sent over their Caliber R2 for a closer look. The Caliber R2 is a pretty straightforward gaming chair with all of the typical features like an optional lumbar pillow, neck pillow, multiple adjustment areas, and more. Is the Caliber R2 worthy of taking over for your squeaky and stinky old chair? Read on to find out!

The Caliber R2 arrived in a large cardboard box that had a bit of wear and tear, but was still fully intact. After the plastic straps were removed and the box was opened up, I found the chair safely inside.

Though not held in place by any padding, the chair components were placed in a manner in which they would be well protected, while at the same time being efficient with space.

Accessories

Outside of a warranty card and assembly guide, the Caliber R2 doesn’t really have any accessories that come along with the chair per se. That being said, there is both a removeable lumbar support pillow and neck pillow included with the chair to enhance your comfort, depending on your preferences.

Taking a look at the lumbar support pillow, we find a pad that almost spans the width of the center section of the chair back. Not quite a half cylinder, the pillow is covered in the same black PU leather with both solid and perforated sections. Along the back is a zipper that gives way to the white foam inside to adjust or refresh the padding. The lumbar support pillow is held in place via elastic straps that wrap around the seat back in a vertical manner, with snapping buckles to keep it in place.

Like the lumbar pillow, the neck pillow is covered in both solid and perforated black PU leather material. The majority of the seams on the panels are stitched with the familiar Cooler Master purple thread. Additionally, there is a stitched Cooler Master logo in the center of the pillow. Access to the inner padding is available via a zipper on the back, and the neck pillow is kept in place via an elastic strap that slides over the top of the chair back.
