CM 690 II Advanced Overview
The CM 690 II Advanced looks a lot like the original CM 690. It has an all black design. The case itself is made of steel with the front bezel being plastic. The front of the case has an all mesh design, something that we’ve seen a lot lately from many different case manufacturers. This allows a lot more air to get into your case.
On the front of the case there is a small Cooler Master logo towards the bottom. Behind that logo is a 140mm intake fan. Moving up you have 4 5.25-inch drive bays.
All of your controls and connections are on top of the case. These include your power and reset buttons, a button to turn off the front LED fan, 2 USB ports, audio ports, and an eSATA port. You will notice a small compartment at the top of the case. This is where the X-port is located at. X-ports are something you are going to start seeing on many new cases this year. It allows you can easily slide in a SATA hard drive, sort of like a hot-swappable drive bay, but even easier.
The side of the case is pretty plain, although there are 2 spots to install cooling fans. These 2 spots will fit many different size fans which is a plus.
The other side of the case has a surprise that you are able to install an 80mm fan on it as well. It goes right behind where your CPU will be. The top of the case is all mesh and also there is a 140mm exhaust fan.
Moving around back things are pretty simple there is another exhaust fan which is 120mm, you have water-cooling tube inserts, and the power supply is located at the bottom of the case. Of course with any case these days we would expect to see thumbscrews on the outside of the case.
Before we get inside let’s flip the case over to take a look at the bottom. The bottom of the case has a mesh filter towards the front where there are 2 large fan placements. Also below the power supply placement there is a honeycombed exhaust vent. Cooler Master uses very large feet on this case, which makes sure it will stay in place on your desk.
