Cooler Master MasterAir MA620M CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

When I first saw the MasterAir MA620M almost a year ago at CES 2019 I loved its sleek look and based on its size I thought it would perform well too. But at the time all Cooler Master could say that it was a new cooler. I wondered how Cooler Master would tackle installation too. We did not have the best experiences with Cooler Master’s larger CPU coolers when it came to installation. Well now that we’ve had to the chance to install this cooler, test it and see the final product we can say that this is definitely one of the best CPU coolers that Cooler Master has ever released!

The thing that really catches your attention about this cooler is its design. Cooler Master has designed it to look like one large heatsink without a fan, but actually it is two separate heatsink stacks with a fan in the center. This makes it so it will look good in pretty much any system you install it in. Cooler Master has capped off the heatsinks and installed ARGB lighting on the top of the cooler. The RGB lighting is sleek and stylish and not too much in your face like we’ve seen with some other coolers. It is also nice that Cooler Master includes a controller if your motherboard does not have a 3-pin ARGB connection.

Of course with a CPU cooler performance is very important and the MasterAir MA620M does not disappoint. In our load testing it kept our Ryzen 7 2700X in check being the 3rd best cooler out of the 13 CPU coolers in our test group. It was only beat out by the Noctua NH-U12A and Scythe Ninja 5, both of which have two cooling fans. Since this MA620M only has a single fan it is pretty quiet too.

The one thing I thought might ruin this CPU cooler would be the installation process. As I said Cooler Master has not had the best mounting designs with many of their previous larger coolers, but they definitely proved me wrong here. The MasterAir 620M not only was one of the easiest Cooler Master CPU coolers to install, but one of the easiest CPU coolers I’ve ever installed.

The only thing I think that is missing from this CPU cooler is the fact that the RGB controller does not have any two-sided tape or adhesive on it to mount it inside your system.

Right now this cooler is selling for $99.99 at our favorite online retailer. You might think that price is high, but that is the same price you’ll pay for other coolers that are at the top of our test group and the MasterAir MA620M looks better and is easier to install. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Cooler Master MasterAir MA620M a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
