Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4-3200 32GB Memory Kit Review

Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB Overview
Taking a first look at the Dominator Platinum RGB modules they keep that same Dominator look that we know Corsair for. We have a black-on-black design with a black PCB and black heatspreader. I really like this design and you can tell these are quality modules as they have some heft to them.

On the main side of each module there is a dark Corsair logo in the center. Dominator Platinum modules feature Corsair’s patented Dual-Path DHX cooling technology, which cools the memory through both the PCB and the external housing above the memory. This ensures smooth operation, even at the highest speeds.

As I mentioned this is the CMT32GX4M4C3200C14 kit, which is a 32GB kit so we have four 8GB modules which run at 3200 MHz with timings of 14-14-14-34 at 1.35V. On the opposite side of the modules you’ll also find a Corsair logo, but there is a small sticker with all of the information on the kit as well.

At the top of each module you’ll find twelve Capellix RGB LEDs under a diffuser. Ten of these diffusers are just squares, but in the center there is a Domintor logo. Unlike traditional RGB LEDs Capellix RGB LEDs are actually mounted directly on the PCB of the memory. These RGB LEDs take up far less space compared to normal RGB LEDs too (0.2mm³ surface area vs 2.8mm³). While they take up less space they actually are actually brighter and use 40% less power. I can see these RGB LEDs being implemented into more products very soon.

Even with the top bar the modules are not all that tall. You shouldn’t run into any clearance issues with most CPU coolers.
