We’ve been waiting for RGB Dominator Platinum for a while now. Corsair’s Dominator Platinum is their cream of the crop DDR4 memory, but it lacked RGB memory. With RGB memory so popular it was only a matter of time before Corsair gave their Dominator Platinum the RGB treatment. Instead of just sticking normal RGBs on the memory Corsair is making use of new Capellix RGB LEDs. These are smaller, which allows Corsair to place more on the module, but they are actually brighter and use less power. I suspect Corsair will be using these RGBs on many different products in the future.
Corsair has placed 12 RGB LED’s on these modules and they look amazing. With Corsair’s iCUE software you can easily set colors, change the brightness, and even configure one of the many presets. All of the RGB LEDs are individually controllable so you can really dive down deep and set the perfect light show for inside of your system. Another thing that is nice is that you brightness control as well.
Being that this is Corsair’s top-rated memory you are getting quality under the hood too. The modules make use of a 10-layer custom PCB with hand-picked ICs. This ensures great performance and definitely helps out with overclocking as well. Corsair is also using their patented Dual-Path DHX cooling technology, which keeps everything nice and cool. Talking about overclocking we were able to get an extra 400 MHz out of our kit, bringing it up to 3600 MHz, while keeping the very tight timings of 14-14-14-34. The only adjustment we had to make was bumping the voltage up to 1.4V.
