Corsair VOID PRO RGB Wireless Overview
As you can see we received the white version of the VOID PRO Wireless, it also comes in a carbon color, which is a more of a black color. Picking up the headset for the first time I was actually surprised at how light it was. While not super-light it was definitely not as heavy as other high-end gaming headsets I’ve used in the past. Official weight for the headset is 390g.
Let’s start at the headband. First it is adjustable, you can just pull on it from either end to get the best fit for your head, there are 10 different settings for each side. The headband, while it looks like plastic, it has a metal headband insert with premium PA6 glass fiber infused plastics to reinforce the outer headband and provide high impact resistance, while retaining flexibility. At the top of the headband you’ll find a memory foam cushion, which will provide great comfort.
Coming off the headband are rigid aluminum alloy cantilevered yokes. They allow the headset to lay flat, which is great for traveling or throwing this headset in a laptop bag. On the side of the headset you are going to see the Corsair logo, this will light up with controllable RGB lighting when you have the headset powered on.
Moving over to the opposite earcup, here is where you’ll find all of the controls. There is a large power button and microphone mute button. If you long-press the microphone mute button it will actually mute and un-mute the sidetone. Sidetone allows you to hear yourself through the headset so you can avoid shouting. Moving to the bottom edge of the headset there is a microUSB connection for charging up the headset and an indication LED. There is also a multi-function jog dial. You move it back and forward to adjust sound up and down, if you short-press it in it will switch between different EQ profiles, and if you long-press it in it will enabled / disable Dolby Headphone 7.1.
The boom microphone comes off the left side of the headset. It can be moved up and down and is bendable as well so you can get the best fit. This is a complete redesign from their previous microphone and Corsair says it is their best headset microphone to date. Also when you flip up the microphone it will instantly mute, which is a nice feature.
Finally we take a look at the cans. The earcups are designed to sit over your ears and Corsair has gone with a new viscoelastic memory foam, which is also found on the headband. This is covered by breathable mesh, which should not only be comfortable, but will reduce heat and moisture. For the VOID PRO series Corsair went ahead and re-built and re-tuned the 50 mm neodymium drivers for even better mid-range clarity and enhanced base performance. They have also tuned the internal ear cup cavity and added additional materials to provide better passive noise isolation.
