DeepCool AK500 Zero Dark CPU Cooler Overview
Taking a first look at the AK500 Zero Dark we can see how DeepCool has given it the all-black treatment. The heatsink and heatpipes have gone from silver to all black, they’ve even made the fan clips black! This is a single-tower, single-fan CPU cooler, but it is definitely on the thicker-side, not a small cooler like we saw with DeepCool’s AK400 WH. The official dimensions of the cooler are 127×117×158 mm and it weighs in at 1040g.
Starting at the front of the cooler we have our fan which is DeepCool’s own FK120 120mm fan. This fan spins between 500-1850 RPM with a max airflow of 68.99, air pressure of 2.19 mmAq, and a max noise level of 31.5 dB(A). This fan has rubber corners to cut down on vibration noise and I love the attention to detail on these as they have little design elements on them.
Taking a look at the cooler from the side we can see just how thick it is. The heatsink itself is 90mm thick and then with the fan installed the total thickness of the cooler is 117mm. Don’t worry though, you’ll still have 100% memory clearance.
Moving around to the back of the cooler we get a better look at the heatsink. The heatsink features aluminum fins and has a matrix fin design, which not only looks good, but should help with heat dissipation. The top of the cooler is capped off and you’ll find small DeepCool logo on it as well as and those little design elements.
Flipping the cooler over we can get a better look at the heatpipes and base of the cooler. There are a total of five 6mm-thick copper heatpipes that go up into the heatsink in a “U” fashion. These heatpipes have an offset design, which allows the cooler to have full memory clearance compatibility.
The base of the cooler has a very nice finish to it, which will make for good contact with your CPU.
