DeepCool AK500 Zero Dark CPU Cooler Review

Installation

We will be doing our installation on an Intel Z490 system so this installation would be pretty much the same for Intel LGA 1200, 1150, 1151, 1155, and 1700 sockets.

To start off installation you are going to want to take the backplate and affix it to the backside of your motherboard, lining up the pegs with the holes in your motherboard. Our backplate was slotted for LGA1200, but you may need to move the pegs for other sockets.

Next go ahead and take the mounting peg screws and screw them into the holes in the backplate. From there take the Intel mounting bars and secure them on the peg screws as you see in the photo below.

Apply the included thermal paste. Before you go ahead and try to install the cooler be sure to remove the front fan and take the top cap off the cooler (it easily pops off). Now carefully place the cooler on the top of your CPU, lining up the mounting screws on each side with the pegs in the mounting bars. Once lined up start to screw in the front screw, then take the included screwdriver and put it down through the opening in the top of the cooler so you can access the other screw. After you’ve got the cooler secured go ahead and reinstall the top cap and the fan. Be sure to plug the fan into the CPU fan header on your motherboard.

With the cooler installed we have 100% memory clearance so if you do have RGB memory it is not going to be covered up by the cooler!
