DeepCool Assassin IV CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

When I first saw this CPU cooler all the way back in January at CES I was excited to get it in to review and see what it could do. Well after taking it through its paces I can say that I am very impressed. Not only when it comes to performance, but also how sleek the cooler is and just how easy it was to get installed given its size.

It our testing the Assassin IV sits at the top of our charts in a three-way tie with the Scythe Fuma 3, Cooler Master MasterAir MA624 Stealth, and the Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.Black. This is quite impressive as these coolers are basically the flagship air coolers from their respective companies. With this type of performance you can easily use this cooler on something like a Core i9 or Ryzen 9 class CPU. During use the cooler is very quiet too, only getting moderately loud during our “Load 2” test. This is likely do to the intake fan being on the inside of the cooler. But during normal operation you really are not going to hear this cooler at all.

The biggest issue I’ve always had with larger CPU coolers is how hard they are to install. Things have definitely improved over the past few years, but I was really surprised at how easy this cooler was to get installed. Even though we do all of our CPU cooler installations outside of our case (to show you the process) I am very confident that you could install this cooler with your motherboard still mounted in your case. That says a lot considering the size of this cooler.

DeepCool Assassin IV CPU Cooler

As I said in the beginning of this review DeepCool has really done a great job when it comes to the design of their products and the Assassin IV is no exception to that. This has to be one of the best looking massive CPU coolers out there. It has a nice cohesive design that is going to look elegant in your build. Another interesting thing about this cooler is that DeepCool has designed it with a “pull-pull” design with no front fan. This allows the cooler to not cover your memory slots, which is great if you have RGB memory. And it is worth noting that that two out of the three coolers that this is tied with in terms of performance completely cover your memory.

It is worth noting that this cooler is tall, at 164 mm there are some cases that this cooler is not going to be compatible with. On top of that it will sit very close to your rear fan and your graphics card. It is going to be very hard to hit that release lever to remove your graphics card.

I do think this is one of the best air coolers currently available would totally recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a high performance cooler. Right now you can pick up the white version of the cooler for $115, while the black version is a bit cheaper at $99. Overall ThinkComputers gives the DeepCool Assassin IV CPU Cooler a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
