Epic Games shocked everyone with their announcement of the Epic Games Store and their revenue share model where developers would receive “up to 88%” of that revenue share. Well Discord asked the question “Why not 90/10?”.
They will be offering developers a 90% revenue share on the new Discord Store. There is a small catch though, to get that 90% developers need to self publish the games, and it has yet to be seen how easy that process is.
In Discord’s blog post they made a point that it does not cost 30% to distribute games in 2018, which has been the industry standard.
We will have to see how successful the Discord Store is and how many game developers actually use it.
